Initiatives

The BKSA are working hard to educate the general public, other associations, water users, councils and landowners about kitesports safety access and needs.

General Public

We have written and published 50,000 copies of a guide to kitesports for members of the public and those interested in getting into the sports. This is now in its second edition

Beach Stakeholder meetings

We attended and consulte re the use of kites and kitesurfing at stakeholder meetings to gain a better understanding and formulate beach management guides for councils and other bodies.

Displays

The BKSA put on organised diplays of kitesurfing at beachside and inland events such as Paddle Around the Pier , ROSPA Beach Forum meeting, Poole Windfest, Boat Shows and WhiteAir.

We are members of -

ROSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents)
Sports and Recreation Alliance 
IKA ( International Kiteboarding Association)

We also keep in close contact with

RNLI ( Royal Lifeboat Institiution)
RYA ( Royal Yacthing Association)

Media

We achieve approx £500,000 worth of mainstream media exposure for kitesports each year through exposure at BKSA national events - getting into National and International Press and many regional TV stations.

We regularly get media coverage on various mediums - a few over the past 2 months -
