Where to go > Mid Wales

Abersoch

main beach, a bit gusty with prevailing south westerly winds.

Hells Mouth

near Abersoch, Very good, long beach, mostly onshore winds so you need to be able to stay upwind to have some fun!

Borth

North of Aberystwyth. Good in south westely winds, cross/on shore winds, Needs to be low tide for the inexperianced as the groins get in the way.

Aberdovey estuary

Just North of Borth , is the Aberdovey estuary with approximately 5 miles of empty beach - save for bank holidays and half terms. usually desolate beach - no groins etc. Onshore winds dominate so ability to get upwind and stay there is a must. As already mentioned the estuary is also good at low tide for beginners, and as it floods experienced boarders are offered a massive obstruction free playground. Kite friendly coast guard and local residence.
