July 31st - August 2nd Discipline - Freestyle and Kiteland Freestyle Jam The forecast for the event was a mixed bag of wind however going past the previous two years Walney Island always gets way more wind than predicted – and this year was no different The Pro Men and Ladies kicked off on the Friday with a building southerly. The heats were hard fought and it was a very pleased Ned Taylor to make it to his first final. James Boulding and Sam Light met Ned in an exciting action packed 7 minutes – however Sam and James were neck and neck and it was a 3 to 2 win for James Boulding The Pro Ladies also saw a great flawless first heat from Hannah Whiteley and also Holly Kennedy to meet in the final – however it was not to be in the final with Helen Thompson beating both of them with some great powered moves. Saturday dawned wet and windy and those in tents had an “interesting “night! The wind topped out at about 22 knots which saw most riders on 7 -10 metre kites There were a few surprises in all finals with new faces and some great results Lewis WIlby surprised everyone!
