July 31st - August 2nd

Discipline - Freestyle and Kiteland Freestyle Jam

The forecast for the event was a mixed bag of wind however going past the previous two years Walney Island always gets way more wind than predicted – and this year was no different
The Pro Men and Ladies kicked off on the Friday with a building southerly.

The heats were hard fought and it was a very pleased Ned Taylor to make it to his first final.
James Boulding and Sam Light met Ned in an exciting action packed 7 minutes – however Sam and James were neck and neck and it was a 3 to 2 win for James Boulding

The Pro Ladies also saw a great flawless first heat from Hannah Whiteley and also Holly Kennedy to meet in the final – however it was not to be in the final with Helen Thompson beating both of them with some great powered moves.

Saturday dawned wet and windy and those in tents had an “interesting “night! However as registration finished with a total of 56 competitors the sun came out and the wind died as predicted – it did not take long to switch 45 degrees from the West and start building ,

The juniors were started with light winds however it was building fast. The Am ladies, Am Men’s and seniors and race crew had 6 hours of competition ahead of them. The wind topped out at about 22 knots which saw most riders on 7 -10 metre kites

There were a few surprises in all finals with new faces and some great results Lewis WIlby surprised everyone!

On the land side a Kite Jam took place with some great riding in particular from Lewis Wilby ( in a wetsuit and also competing in the Kitesurf)  and Carl Kirton on the Landboards ,

On the buggy side Pro Kitesurfer Ali Reader took 2nd with an amazing display however it was Frazier Cohen with his immense variation of tricks that took the win.

All the riders were out at the end of the day and the last man off was Tom from KiteitRight who was out as the sun came down and the moon came out at 9.30 pm – what a day
Sunday dawned with a westerly wind however as it was forecast to back off as it did everyone had a freeride with prize giving at 1pm
