Whitstable

whitstable-beach whitstable-beach-map

Whitstable offers a wide variety of conditions in many wind directions and states of the tide. The local windsurf club has a bar, hot showers and board storage. Windsurfers launch from the beach to the left of the harbour.

Called 'the Street', it has been used as a speed strip and it's also ideal for beginners in lighter winds as the sand bank prevents any drifting out to sea.

Ideal in SW to NW and NE to SE. For 1-2 hours either side of high tide, a perfectly flat water area is exposed next to the beach.

Hythe

Whitstable was the first Kite Surfing spot in the South East, it was also a test bed for the sport worldwide and a number of famous Kite Surfers have originated from the town in the early days of the sport, including Chris Calthrop who was the first Kite Surfer to surf the huge waves of Jaws in Hawaii.

Pegwell

Only an hour from London is one of the best kept secrets in kitesurfing. Just south of Ramsgate Pegwell Bay is a popular spot with tourists and kitesurfers alike. At low tide it’s a fair old stroll to the waters edge but with literally miles of sand between you and anything solid its one of the safest beaches around and works well in South West, South and South Easterly winds.
