Powerkite Level 1 Instructor TrainingGeneral All BKSA Powerkite Instructor Training Courses (ITC’s) are run in conjunction with the British Kitesurfing Association (BKSA) and are open to all Kitesports enthusiasts of a suitable standard of riding proficiency / experience. (Details of this are attached). The aim of the BKSA Powerkite ITC is to produce good, competent, keen and professional powerkiting instructors. The emphasis on the course is around safety, communication skills, professional attitude and conduct as an ambassador for kitesports and the BKSA. The BKSA ITC the most comprehensive and up to date ITC which includes the entire BKSA teaching scheme and career path and details on working in the UK and overseas. The syllabus forms the core of the course package with further areas that include foil training as well as single skin kites, further safety inputs and the legal and administrative requirements an instructor must be aware of when setting up their own school within the UK. The BKSA can put you in touch with centers for training in both of the above – this training will usually be done preceding the start date of the ITC. A complete five-day fast track course can be undertaken to accredit persons to powerkite, Landboard, buggy instructor, First aid certificate including basic powerkite course. Course Duration The course is delivered over 2 days although often an evening session is run on the first day concluding the course on the end of the second day. Once qualified as a level one powerkite Instructor you are licensed to teach 6 persons with three kites within a BKSA recognized school or Local authority recognized Infrastructure. Once you have Gained 150 hours of Logged teaching experience in no less than a 6 month period you can apply for a Senior Instructor Course. BKSA Senior Instructor So your already a BKSA instructor, you have some experience of teaching kitesports either in the UK or overseas, you like and enjoy it and want to take it to the next level. The purpose and function of a BKSA Senior instructor course is to expand on the knowledge and skills learnt on your initial ITC. And look onwards at the next step on the career ladder. Every BKSA School requires at least one senior instructor as the principle/ manager in charge of kitesports operations. The course is designed to teach and inform experienced instructors about employing staff, safety management systems, running schools, the different courses that can run in schools from learn to Kitesurf, to powerkite and landboard to instructor training, powerboating, first aid and so on. How to run different level groups in areas, run and manage beaches, deal with awkward customers and adverse weather effectively. The slightly grittier back office side to kitesurfing schools in other words.This is one side of it; the other is to look at the more advanced level of students and how to run effective high quality coaching sessions on the intermediate areas of the Scheme. Enrolment requirements Member of the BKSA, BKSA Level 1 instructor150 hours of logged teaching hours in a BKSA recognized school. Minimum 2 years kitesports experience and 6-months/one season as a level one instructor.Have valid qualifications and be operating within the guidelines of the BKSA scheme.
