The Centre:

Kite Junkies was born on the 1st of July 2007. Kev Biles, Diane Gainford and Pedro Inacio are your hosts at Sharm El Sheikh's first and only Kitesurfing Centre. The centre is located in Nabq, a newly developed area on the north side of Sharm el Sheikh.

Only 10 minutes from the airport and on the doorstep of many new low-rise 5 star resorts the spot remains picturesque and unspoilt.

We believe that your time spent here should be more of an experience and not just a kitesurfing holiday. Whether you're a total beginner or an advanced rider the Kite Junkies team will do their best to attend to your every kitesurfing need.

For beginners we offer certified BKSA training courses so you’re assured that you're in safe hands with one of our instructors. As well as BKSA level 1 and BKSA Level 2 beginner courses which cover everything from basic kite skills to your first rides, we can put together a tailor made package of instruction to help your skills development.

For advanced riders you'll be equally looked after. Whether it's having your kit packed away at the end of the day because that cold beer just somehow seems more appealing or simply having your board brought back to you that's what we're here for.

For those lazy kiters amongst us (nothing wrong with that) we have a couple of compressor stations to pump your kite, and our beach staff will lay out your lines ready for your first session of the day. If you can't leave home without your laptop then you can take advantage of the free Wi-Fi at the centre.

If it's not just a pure kitesurfing holiday and you're in Sharm El Sheikh with the family it doesn't get better than this. Being located along a public promenade which runs along the front of the local hotels, the access to shops, bars and restaurants makes it ideal for the non kiters. Whether you take a leisurely walk or rent one of the many available electric scooters the promenade offers plenty.

Alternatively you can just chill out on one of the sun loungers and enjoy the entertainment. Food and drinks are available all day long from the nearby beach bar.

The Kite Surf Spot

Our centre is located directly on the beach within the grounds of the Regency Plaza Resort. The Resort is only 10 minutes from Sharm el Sheikh Airport.

The riding area is fringed by a reef creating a huge flat water lagoon with most areas knee to chest deep, the riding areas are never affected by the tides. The wind is predominately cross to cross-onshore. Sharm shares the same wind as Dahab with a high percentage of days blowing 20 knots or more.

With over 3 square kilometres of flat water to play on it’s the perfect playground for the complete beginner or the more advanced rider learning new tricks.  With most of the riding area being shallow it’s pretty difficult to get into trouble.

The Lagoon is split into two areas:

Free riders have a huge area directly in front of the launching and landing area, this area is perfect for busting your latest moves.

Beginners have a huge area upwind of the landing and launching area. This is where we carry out our lessons as it is a super safe tuition area. For those of you that are just mastering the sport and not going up-wind you will also practice in this area. It is perfect for learning as you’ll never be out of your depth.

The launching area is right in front of the centre. Just pump up your kite with one of our compressor lines and hit the water. If you do find yourself in a tricky situation or without your board, relax one of our staff will be there to assist you.

The Wave Spot

For those a little more adventurous a 20 minute ride upwind will see you in a bay where you’ll find moderate rolling waves around 1.5 to double head height. 

We feel that the spot is for the more advanced rider who wants to get to grips with the waves, also great for boosting some big airs.  It is relatively friendly with a predominantly sandy bottom.

A ride to the ‘wave spot’ is always organized with one of our instructors. After a session in the waves it is followed by a down winder back to the flat water lagoon.

The wind blows cross on shore. The wind usually picks up around 7am, dying down again in the afternoons. In the Winter season often blows all day. Late afternoons are often windless and perfect for Stand Up Paddle Boards.

Kite Equipment:

We have a full range of Naish (Torch, Helix, Cult & Cult Sport), Ozone (Edge, Sport & Light) & Nobile (NHP & 555) kites. We have 5 line ‘C’kites, Bow kites & hybrid kites, so something for everyone!

Landing and Launching:

The beach is wide and spacious with plenty of a dedicated area for Kitesurfurfing. All landing and launching is done assisted with our beach staff.

For those guests not staying at the Regency Plaza Resort we do have sun beds for use available.  There are also refreshments available from the beach bar etc.

Registration & Orientation

When you arrive at the centre you will need to fill out a registration form. After this you will be given a tour of the centre and the beach & riding area will be explained to you before heading out on to the water.

We do not allow private teaching on any of our beaches. All instruction must be conducted by Kite Junkies Qualified Instructors.

Equipment Rental

We have half day, full day & weekly rental packages. If you arrive without your own equipment & want to rent from us you must show proof of certification. If you do not have a certification card then we would need to make sure that you are at a competent level before rental. This might require a refresher lesson or supervision for 1 hr.

If you have just finished a beginner’s course then we would be more than happy to rent you equipment.

Kite Repair

We hope this is a service that you won’t need! But if you do we have everything. We try & offer a 24 hr repair service. We have most rip stop & Dacron colours to make the repair look as good as possible.

Shop

In the shop we stock kites, boards, harnesses, impact vest, clothing, Progression DVD’s, spares etc

Transport

There are two reliable taxi companies that we recommend to guests. We have fixed rates so you don’t have to negotiate the price. If you need a taxi or minibus this can be arranged. We can also organize Airport pick up and drop off if needed.
